Madigan made… strawberry sorbet.
Local strawberries! Yeah!
Even though it has been ‘strawberry season’ at the supermarket, I am always amazed at the difference in taste of local vs. supermarket strawberries.
To alter a Willy Wonka quote: “The strawberries taste like strawberries!”
My recent quart of strawberries were sweet, but these pretty gems were not going to stay fresh much longer. I knew I needed to use them up soon.
I was at a loss for what to do with them.
– Make a smoothie? (seemed like a waste to blend them up with other things that could dilute their sweetness)
– Freezer jam? (while I’ve read some great inspiration to make jam for the freezer, I really do not eat that much jam)
– Strawberry margaritas? (tempting, but I had to work the next day)

So, I settled on a strawberry sorbet and found a simple recipe for inspiration. I used my handy immersion blender to blend up the frozen berries with a little sugar and water.
Super simple.
A few hours in the freezer and it was ready.
For me, the hardest part was waiting for the sorbet to soften enough for scooping.
But totally worth the wait. Mmm!
