Quick and easy

Madigan made… a quicky {key fob}.

What did you think I meant? 🙂

I loved how simple my Xmas bead icicles were to assemble, that I was inspired to make another quick bead-y craft.
Using the same approach as the bead icicles, I made this quick key fob in no time with some leftover beads.

Need a quick little gift? Or a fun, new way to find your keys?

Try this one. Promise – it won’t take long.

(UPDATE: A caution before you make it. These are not very durable. Especially for a clumsy crafter like myself!)

What you’ll need:
a metal clasp
different pretty beads
bead stringing wire
2 crimp beads
1 jump ring
basic jewelry pliers/cutters

By the way – I love using dollar store pill boxes to store my jewelry findings.
(like here, with some of my jump rings and crimp beads)

Pick out some beads that will give you a key fob about 3-4 inches in length.
(I picked out these leftover mother of pearl flat beads and tan guys for a summery look.)

Cut a length of wire about 7 inches.  (You will trim off extra, but I like room to work)

Next, attach the wire to the jump ring with one of the crimp beads, like so:

(I did not worry too much about trimming the wire too close, since I knew my first bead was pretty large and would cover the wire.)

Then, start to string the beads:

When you get to the end of the “fob”, pull all the beads together and add another crimp bead to the end. Smash it flat with pliers.

Then, use wire cutters to trim the wire as close as possible to the crimp bead.
Open the top jump ring and attach to the metal clasp. (see the opening picture for how it should look)
Enjoy pretty new key jewelry!
This little cutie is for me. But I plan to make more (they are just too easy!).
I can clip one to the outside of a present? Or a zipper? Or give as a little gift on their own!

You can find me at these link parties.
