How to easily remove wax from a candle holder

Madigan made… a quick and simple candle tip.

I love candles.

They add another layer of welcome to a room.
Candles hit so many of our senses: they look pretty, they can warm a space and of course, they smell good!

I love scented wax tea light warmers, in particular.  They are cheaper than purchasing huge jars. And it is easy to change out the scent. I don’t know about you, but I get weary of a scent after awhile. For me, changing the scent is one more way to refresh my perspective on a room or to get in the mood for a season. These wax tea lights meet the needs of my indecisive nose!

About two months ago, I was itching to change from a summery/airy scent to a fall scent. But I needed to remove that wax. That is one drawback to using these tea light burners. You have to remove and change the wax once you tire of the scent.

Removing the wax often was a challenge. I used to dig and chip away at the wax with screwdriver, sometimes scratching the container. And it made a horrible mess, destroying the wax in the process.

Then, watching Martha Stewart several years back, she gave an invaluable tip for any candle:

Put the candle holder upside-down in the freezer.

Wait at least an hour. The wax will shrink in the cold.

Sometimes, when I go back to the freezer, the wax fell out already.

If that did not occur, I just pull the candle holder out of the freezer and with gentle pressure on one edge of the wax, it pops right out!

Look how clean and pretty the wax disc is?

I save the wax discs and reuse them all the time. Perfect for an indecisive candle smell-er like myself!

Thanks so much for this!!! I have always wondered how to get the candle wax out of those tart burner things, who knew it would be so easy.

Rub the inside of the candle holder with oil (scented, olive, whatever you have handy). They slip right out for me!

This is such a cool idea! Thanks for watching Martha for us. I could have used this so often in the past.
