MAKE: A simple way to decorate a clear, Lucite tray.
I love trays. Don’t you?
Trays protect your furniture surfaces. They look pretty. But most importantly, they help you gather many random items together and make your area look organized! All of these features are crucial in a baby’s room… especially near the changing area.
You’ve seen our baby girl’s nursery, but I thought I’d share with you how easy it was to make a simple tray for her changing table. Now I’ve turned a clear acrylic frame into a tray before. (Thanks to my friend Aunt Peaches who inspired me to use a frame as a tray.) I decorated that tray for my office with copious amounts of gold glitter. But for Little C’s room I wanted something with a little vintage femininity to coordinate with the rest of the room.
Let me show you how easy it was to make:
How to personalize your own acrylic tray
Find a clear acrylic photo frame. I bought mine at thrift and craft stores but you can also find them online (like this one on Amazon *affiliate link).
Turn it upside down to create a tray. (To protect your furniture surfaces, I do suggest placing adhesive furniture bumpers to the bottom corners and center of the tray.)
Grab a plastic placemat. (I found mine at IKEA. They always seem to have cute plastic mats there in fun patterns. This pink floral print was perfect for Little C’s room.)
Cut the mat to size to fit inside the frame. Place it in the frame… and fill your new and pretty tray with things you want to corral on your table top!
Easy peasy. Wipeable. Changeable. Simple.
