I know. It’s been awhile. What, almost a year and a half now? It’s so nice to see you!
Things look a little different around here, don’t they? I feel like I owe you an explanation for all of these changes. In this post I want to cover:
- Why I stopped blogging and what kept me from diving back in.
- Why I want to start blogging more now.
- Why I wanted to rebrand my site… and shift the focus of my content a little.
- What’s the meaning of the new site name?
Why I stopped blogging and what kept me from diving back in.
There are a lot of reasons I stopped updating this blog in 2015. Adapting to that wonderful, rewarding but stressful life change that is motherhood was my biggest challenge. Focusing on our new family instead of being online was important to me. Focusing on ‘me’ and taking time out for me slowly became a priority, too.
Additionally, in the last couple of years, I feel like the world has changed, especially in social media. This may be a generalization, but I feel that there is a lack of common courtesy and compassion for others online today. (And offline, too. Just watch the news.) This gaping void of civility is often filled with negativity, ignorance, judgment and hate. I was not eager to jump back online into piles of social media disrespect.
Why I want to start blogging more now.
But in today’s world, it is so hard to unplug. And if you look, there are a lot of people doing really good and interesting things. I feel like there is still a space (and a need) for positive and inspirational ideas to compete with the pessimism. So, I want to get back into blogging to share things that I love and find other people online that love the same stuff.
On top of that, I can’t stop creating things! I enjoy making things and showing others how easy it can be. That desire to create… to teach and share…to write and photograph… it is a passion for me I can’t ignore.
Why I want to rebrand and refocus my site.
I want you to know that my priorities and interests have shifted focus to a degree. Becoming a mother changes your perspective on things. Your interests shift (from new restaurants to try to new playgrounds to explore). Your time management strategies require an overhaul (projects done in a weekend become crafts completed during naptime).
As a result, I plan to expand the focus of this blog to include more lifestyle-type topics. Making time to care for myself (self-care ideas like skincare, style, exercise, etc.) has become a priority for me. So, I’m hoping to talk more on this blog about those things… on top of crafts, DIY and easy home décor!
The main topics I hope to cover can be divided into four categories:
- MAKE – Simple crafts and recipes.
- DWELL – DIY home décor and household tips.
- GLOW – Easy style and beauty tips. (Full disclosure: I am a derp when it comes to make-up. But I love skincare and other basic beauty topics… and, as always with me, I like to keep things simple!)
- CELEBRATE – Holiday and party ideas. (crafts, recipes, traditions, etc.)
Why is the site now called ROSYSCRIPTION?
I liked the name Madigan Made for my site, but I wanted to change it to something that felt more reflective of all the topics I want to talk about, not just things I ‘made’.
Many of you may remember that I am a pharmacist. I love roses, I have rosy cheeks and I do my best to try and stay positive. (Rosy, if you will.) So, I wanted to find a name that embodied all of those things. For more details about my rose (rosy) obsession, be sure to check out the full explanation in my ABOUT section.
What is a Rosyscription? Well, this site is MY solution (prescription, if you will) for creating a simple and (semi) rosy life.
Easy solutions for a simple, creative and (semi)rosy life:
make. dwell. glow. celebrate. repeat as needed.
So, thanks for reading this blog… now Rosyscription. I hope you will stop by again soon!
I’m still working to get this site in order… I lost a few things in the move (many of my comments!) so please excuse the mess as you click around! It may take me a few weeks (months?) to update all of my older posts and I hope to start publishing new content soon!
