MAKE: two ridiculously simple summery drinks.
I know. The summer is almost over. Do you really need another drink idea?
Sure you do! I know some of us are itching for the fall, cold weather and spiced lattes but we still have a couple of weeks left of hot and sticky air in our area. I know one of these recipe ideas will come in handy!
These are two of my favorite drink ideas that my husband and I made this past summer. One recipe is for the adults and the other one is for everyone (though with a splash of rum or vodka, you can make the second one more fun!).
This first drink idea seriously tastes like strawberries and cream or a strawberry pie or maybe strawberry syrup. It is delicious! The key is finding strawberry flavored vodka. (The brand of liquor we used was Three Olives.) The best part about this cocktail is how simple it is to make… you only need three ingredients!
Simple Strawberry Sipper:
Ingredients:
- Strawberry vodka
- Club soda
- Strawberries
Depending on how strong you like your drink, add vodka to your club soda. Garnish with slices of fresh strawberries. That’s it!
The second drink was inspired by Brazilian lemonade… which is not really lemonade. It contains sweetened, condensed milk and lots of fresh limes and is sooooo good! I made Brazilian lemonade at the beginning of the summer but it was a TON of work and the clean up afterwards was a sweet and sticky mess.
So, I experimented to find ways I could create that flavor without the mess (or needing to make a huge batch). I eventually came up with this recipe. While it is not exactly the same as my inspiration, this drink is sweet, light and refreshing. Perfect for a single serving on a hot day! No need to open a whole can of condensed milk or juice a bunch of limes.
Bonus? You get a lot of foam on the top of the drink that my toddler calls ‘fuzzy’. Hence, the name…
Fuzzy and Foamy Limeade:
Ingredients:
- Flavored coffee creamer (I suggest French vanilla or sweet cream or similar)
- Lime juice (fresh or bottled if you don’t have fresh)
- Seltzer water (plain or a citrus flavor)
You may need to adjust the amounts to your liking but I pour about 2 tablespoons of creamer in the bottom of a tall glass. Top with ice and then about a tablespoon of lime juice. Add seltzer water to the glass and stir with a straw. Enjoy!
I’m dying to try this recipe with either a coconut flavored seltzer or coconut creamer. I think it would taste fabulous with the lime.
These two drinks are so simple and so good, you don’t have to reserve them just for the summertime.
What have been your favorite drinks this summer? And what drinks are you looking to enjoy this fall?
