WANDER… to the Laurel Highlands with us!
I may be a little biased… but I like my weekends and I love weekend getaways.
Are you looking for a family-friendly vacation idea? Or are you interested in exploring the Pennsylvania countryside?
We recently got away for a long weekend with my family in June. We met my parents, my two brothers and their wives and kids in the Laurel Highlands of western Pennsylvania.
We stayed at the Harris House on Randall Reserve. This is our second time on the property…. We came here last fall with my family and we loved it so much that we came back again.
The reserve is a 400 acre property about an hour away from Pittsburgh. The house is situated next to a lake with lots of things to keep little kids entertained. (a swing set, a lake with dock and boats, a fire pit, a horse barn, a basketball court and loads of walking trails) The area would also serve as a great home base to explore the rest of the area. But as you can see in this week’s video, it also was great for spending time with family.
The Harris House is a 7 bedroom lodge with a big family room kitchen and deck for entertaining. The house is comfortable and it easily fit all 12 of us. We went out to eat in the local town of Legionier and caught a side walk sale. But my favorite part of the trip was hanging with family outside on the property and enjoying the views.
We love the Laurel Highlands area of Pennsylvania… it has gorgeous seasonal changes in the fall and is quite lush in the spring. (Yes, everything really was that green in June!)
